MINOR INJURY ASSESSMENT

If you are aged 12 and over and have a minor injury in the last 7 days, such as a minor scald or burn, limb injury, head injury animal bites or minor wounds you can contact MIA on 111.

CTAC NURSES (Community Treatment and Care)

The CTAC nurses visit Dunbar Medical Practice on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.  if you require a dressing, ear syringing, B12 injections or hospital bloods please call 0131 446 4227 to arrange an appointment.

CWIC Mental Health (Care When it Counts)

The CWIC mental health team are experts in all mental health.  If you are seeking support or advice  for your mental health please call the team on 01620 642 963.

Pharmacy First

Pharmacists and their teams are experts in medicine and can help with minor health concerns.  In some cases it may be worth speaking to a pharmacist before a GP, the reception team can let you know if your problems is something that can be dealt with at the pharmacy.

Antenatal Clinics blood_pressure8

Run by doctors and the community midwifery team.  Antenatal and parent-craft classes are held in the Medical Centre.

Asthma, Blood Pressure & Diabetes Monitoring

Doctors and practice nurses offer routine checks, education and advice.

Family Planning Advice

A full range of services (including the fitting of coil and IUS and Implanon) is available during surgery hours from the doctors and the practice nurses.  We can also provide emergency contraception up to 5 days following unprotected intercourse.  The practice nurses provide contraceptive advice and free condoms through the C-Card System.

Cervical Smear

We recommend regular smears for all women from 20-60 years and will contact you three yearly or more frequently if required.

Childhood Immunisation & Child Health Surveillance

We strongly recommend full immunisation and will contact you at the appropriate times. Children under 5 will be invited to attend for the recommended programme of pre-school checks with the doctors and health visitors.

Healthy Lifestyle Advice & Health Promotion

The practice nurses and health visitors are particularly interested in encouraging a healthy lifestyle. See them for advice on losing weight, stopping smoking, exercise, or for travel advice and immunisation for foreign travel.

In addition to the above our nurses are availble for blood sampling, suture removal, dressings and the care of minor injuries

Belhaven Hospital

We have the facility to admit and care for some patients at Belhaven Hospital.
